The East Tennessee and Western North Carolina Railroad Historical Society Collection, held by the Archives of Appalachia at East Tennessee State University, documents the history of the East Tennessee & Western North Carolina Railroad and the Linville River Railway through company records, publications, maps, oral history interviews, films, videotapes, and photographs. The materials date from 1883-2005, but predominantly 1910s-1950. This collection provides a comprehensive visual record of the ET&WNC RR. The written record highlights various aspects of the railroad’s operation.

The current digital collection contains JPEG file surrogates created in 2023 of the 1,624 photographs located in Boxes 11-18 of Series 3B from the collection.
