The correspondence includes congratulatory messages, formal invitations and responses to dinner parties and other official functions, requests for assistance with problems resulting from the evacuation of Japanese-Americans and their parents, requests from photographers and artists for the opportunity to photograph or portray the Secretary, correspondence regarding gifts, letters concerning the Secretary's interest in statehood for Hawaii, and correspondence concerning the purchase of blue fox pelts for Mrs. Krug. Krug's resignation as Secretary of the Interior with President Truman's letter of acceptance also is included.
In addition to carbon copies of letters signed by Krug, the papers also contain carbon copies of letters signed by Margaret F. Ramsey and W. H. McCrillis, secretary and special assistant, respectively, to the Secretary of the Interior. The collection also contains a few personnel documents regarding Krug's service as acting Chairman of the War Production Board.
