Sapphonian Literary Society Minute Book, 1911-1927

The Sapphonian Literary Society Minute Book, held by the Archives of Appalachia at East Tennessee State University, consists of one bound minute book which contains the constitution adopted on November 15, 1911; bylaws; a revised constitution and bylaws adopted on October 11, 1920; membership lists; and minutes (incomplete) of meetings from September 23, 1915 through January 15, 1927.

The Sapphonian Literary Society, a literary society for female students of the East Tennessee State Normal School (now East Tennessee State University), was organized to promote the students' literary attainments and to encourage the social welfare of the students and the normal school.  The Society was active from 1911-1927.
