These recordings were made one afternoon during the summer of 2005 at the studios of Keith Smith, owner of EKS sound in Johnson City. Richard Blaustein had a repertoire of tunes few people played, and at the urging of Roy Andrade and others, he agreed to make a recording to document and circulate the recordings. Richard was reluctant to release these recordings because he felt that he could play them better, and it was resolved to try another studio session or two. But those sessions never happened. The tunes here were learned mostly during his days in Bloomington, Indiana, where he spent time with the older generation of rural midwestern musicians.

This recording features Richard Blaustein (fiddle), Roy Andrade (banjo), and Chris Sharp (guitar).
