Purpose

FOCIS would become pioneers of a new type of mission that encompassed the whole person and the whole community.  Lives would be improved by empowering communities, both Catholic and non-Catholic, through self-awareness and education.  The mission would be implemented through food and fellowship, relationship building, social services, organized meetings, training programs, and most importantly consistency. 

One goal was to instill a sense of pride and self-confidence by bringing a community to a point of self-sustainment through an awareness that the existing rich culture of everyday skills such as quilting, woodworking, crafts, music, and storytelling could be utilized to provide needed income.
