From Camp Pickett, VA, Goodin was sent to Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania. Goodin writes his parents in May 1943 "when you put in from daylight to dark, 5:30 a.m. till 8:30 p.m. with 20 minutes off to eat, it doesn't take long for the days and weeks to go rolling by." Then in a letter dated September 17, 1943, Goodin tells his family he is "on a ship to somewhere."
