Presidential Ponderings: The Writings of Sidney Gilbreath

Sidney Gordon Gilbreath was the first President of East Tennessee State Normal School.  Elected by the State Board of Education, Gilbreath's term began in September, 1910, and ended after fifteen years of service in 1925.

The Archives of Appalachia houses the presidential records of Sidney Gilbreath, which include the "newspaper writings" featured in this exhibit.  A selection of writings will be posted each month.

Sidney Gilbreath's beautiful penmanship is featured in these newspaper writings written in fountain pen.  All have been transcribed.  Also featured is his wonderful sense of humor.
