Hands All Around: Social Aspects of Quilting

“Hands All Around: Social Aspects of Quilting” is one of nine presentations in the Appalachian Outreach Program, developed by the Archives of Appalachia in 1979-1980. The presentation explores some of the ways quilts and quilting have played important roles in the private lives and community activities of Americans from the era of early European settlement up through the 1970s. The program draws on nineteenth century sources, musical selections, oral interviews, and historic and modern photographs.
